Chris Hunter feels that Chamber membership is important to his feeling of being connected and in touch with the Aztec business community. Because Cornerstone Business Solutions is a business that serves other businesses, getting to know other business owners and to work together in creating a healthier base of business for all members is what Chamber membership is all about.
"Over the years of membership, the Aztec Chamber and its directors have been very supportive of my small business. I have been encouraged to grow my business and provided with numerous referrals and opportunities to expose my business service offerings to members. It was only natural that when asked by several board members and chamber members at-large to consider serving as a board member that I said yes. I enjoy the sense of accomplishment the Chamber management team and board can have in working together as a team to help members derive maximum benefit from their annual membership investment.
I'd like for the Chamber to be recognized within the Four Corners as a Chamber that provides a very high return on its members' annual membership investment dollar. Although Aztec Chamber membership already represents an excellent value, I'd like to see continued work (well underway I might add) on (1) developing even better business networking and lead referral opportunities, (2) meaningful community service offerings like Fiesta Days and finally (3) providing a strong, unified voice of business interests strongly supportive of building Aztec into an even more economically prosperous and attractive City in which to work and live.< The Board is strongly supportive of these initiatives and in 2007 authorized the Executive Director to attend U.S. Chamber Management Institute training to bring home even more best practices to bear on behalf of the membership. If the Chamber Director can earn her certification credentials it would be a first for a chamber in San Juan County and additional evidence of the excellence that the Aztec Chamber and its Board is seeking to develop and be known for among its members.
BRIEF CAREER HISTORY:
Following a 20-plus year corporate career in a variety of executive level finance and operations positions in the utility, mining and personal services industries, Chris and Katie Hunter returned to San Juan County in 1999. Cornerstone Business Solutions, LLC was formed in 2000 and is today one of the Four Corners leading business development and general management consulting practices. The company serves a variety of area businesses large and small, including two Baldrige Quality New Mexico winners and a company recognized by the Small Business Administration as being New Mexico's SBA Business of the Year as well as the winner of the San Juan Economic Development Services' prestigious EDGE Award.
