Aztec Painted Pianos

Big Sound in a Small Town
This is a public art project combining music and art in the form of playable pianos painted in attractive scenes and colorful designs that will attract citizens, tourists and visitors to Aztec. People are invited to play the pianos and enjoy this fun and lively art form located on historic Main Street in Aztec and other popular locations.

Aztec citizens reached out to donate pianos, and artists volunteered to participate in painting the pianos. Our own “Feat of Clay” artist coop was the first to act when their artists were interested in painting pianos. Lowe’s donated a significant amount of paint and supplies for the project.

This project is sponsored by the Aztec Chamber of Commerce and the City of Aztec. The project has recently been honored with a grant from the Connie Gotch Arts Foundation supporting local arts in the region.

Funds Donated to Project:
$2,700 – City of Aztec
$1,000 – Connie Gotch Art Foundation
